Samuel’s Gorge

The atmospheric little cellar door was crying out to be painted, a perfect moody interior that reminded me of a Vermeer. It sits atop a hill looking out over the stunning Onkaparinga Gorge. This is a boutique winery that makes a handful of varieties suited to the local climate. Walk out and peer over the stone wall to the paddocks and gorge beyond. There are many walks through the Onkaparinga River National Park and the one I took recently started just near the driveway to this winery. The lookout is a must and you can watch the birds flying through the gorge from your high vantage point.
