I grew up in this wine region. Back in 60’s and 70’s it was mainly known as a warm climate, bulk wine making region.

The National Wine Centre, located in Adelaide’s CBD does showcase national wines but I would say the standard of everything that they do is of “International” standard.

Chester Osborn is the winemaker and the man behind this amazing architectural structure. Based on Rubrick’s Cube but using only white and green glass, this building houses d’Arenburg Winery’s cellar door and special tasting experiences.

On the second Saturday of every month this special group of people come together in the old Show Hall, opposite the Farmer’s Market.

The past two weeks have been absolutely glorious in the Vale. The birds have been chirping like crazy, the almond blossoms have greeted us and the sun has been shining through the crisp air.

The atmospheric little cellar door was crying out to be painted, a perfect moody interior that reminded me of a Vermeer.

This wonderful place is my second home. Run by the dynamic and creative husband and wife team of Anna Small and Warren Pickering it houses 8 artist studios, a gallery and beautiful retail space.

Italians have a reputation for knowing about good food and wine, it’s in their DNA but I’ll add good design to that.

Drive over the tiny stone bridge and feel the stress dissolve ☺️

Historical meets the modern.

I work at the Fleurieu Arthouse which is on Hardys site and so have gotten to know the people in the cellar door. Marty was one of the first to get involved with the calendar project.

The current art exhibition in the lounge area is “Baile del Cuervo (Dance of the Raven) by David Xiberras”

The calendars were delivered on Friday. As you can see from the photo, I was pretty excited!!
